Reaction to Weezer - The 8-bit Album

The reaction to Weezer - The 8-bit Album has been phenomenal. The tens of thousands of downloads managed to cause a server crash, and then we exceeded our bandwidth limit for the month - all in all, a massive success! The album has been featured on numerous blogs, podcasts and video sites all over the internet, and here are some of our favourites: Kotaku, Bytejacker, Punknews, GeekDad, Radio Exile and Maxim.

If you downloaded and enjoyed Weezer - The 8-bit Album (or any of our other albums), please consider making a donation to the Squad through the Shop page. And if you haven't downloaded the Weezer album already, what are you waiting for?

Weezer - The 8-bit Album released!

Here it is, PTE018, Weezer - The 8-bit Album. Featuring a total of 14 Weezer covers from an all-star line-up of video game musicians, this is one 8-bit album you need to have in your collection. Included are some of the band's biggest hits, as well as some of their lesser known pieces, but all reworked in dazzling 8-bit fashion.

And if you haven't already, head on over to the official compilation blog and 'Digg' this release.

"Do you remember that dream you had, where the sound chips from the beloved games consoles of your youth all got together and formed a Weezer tribute band? Yeah? No? OK. That dream is about to come true whether you had it or not.

The songs on this compilation have mostly been created using original videogame hardware running home-brew software, and vary radically in style, from minimal 'one man and his Game Boy' compositions to 8-bit inspired full band performances. Pterodactyl Squad proudly presents the music of Weezer as you have never heard it before."

STFUAJPGM

Pterodactyl Squad fans should go check out an ace little podcast by the name of STFUAJPGM. This fairly new project describes itself as "a miniature micro-music mixtape magazine", with each episode featuring video game style music, videos and other art focused on a particular theme. There are currently three episodes available for download, with Episode 1 featuring music and a written contribution from NESMETAL, and Episode 2 featuring a brand new track from Pterodactyl Squad's Lawrence Power. Rad!
